Road Trip to the Beautiful North

This weekend was wonderful! It didn't go as planned, but it went so much better then I had planned. The original plan, leave early Saturday morning and drive to Fireman's park to ride a loop of the IMMOO course. We got there Saturday morning and during the "Prebike" Chit Chat there was thunder, lightning, and a deluge of water coming from the sky. We attempted to ride out twice but after looking at the radar decided breakfast was a better idea! After breakfast we made the drive to the Cabin in Wautoma, WI. Ludster and I got to the cabin midday took a nap and ate again and then the FUN started.

This ride starts with me.. which is unsual! I am usually being prodded along by Ludster. "Hey.. let's go ride to Mt. Morris before we get rained on again." Ludster, "NO.. it's cold outside, my gear is wet, the road is a mess!" Then Tom rings in with, "I'll be your scooter guide!" And.. with that added "FUN" off we went. Yes it was cold, wet and I couldn't feel my feet... but it was PHENOMENAL! I had my own scooter guide like I was winning the race! I had a pace driver to keep me from slacking when I really wanted to! And.. I had the best cheerleader in my life, TOM saying "WOW, You look good out here today!". We rode to Mt. Morris... surprisingly only about 9 miles from the cabin. Ludster and I both thought it was 15 miles away. And then I did something I have never done....I climbed all the way to the top of Mt. Morris. It's been a year since I tried to climb to the top... and it was a great accomplishment for me. The elevation is 1,193 ft. When we got to the top, Ludster beat me up there of course! The guys said.. "Hey, want to do that again?". The weather was threatening, so it was time to ride back but I will be back to hill repeats at Mt. Morris. It was so exhilirating to conquer this after a rough bike test this week. We arrived home just before the thunder and lightning started another deluge. It was PERFECT TIMING! The 22 mile ride was just what I needed! I even got some pointers on climbing hills from the Ludster. He is going to be a great resource for me in the next four months leading up to Ironman!

A special thanks to TOM for being a great scooter guide! I can't wait to add that "FUN" to a long workout again soon!

As a side note: My bike was a mess! I cleaned it last night for an hour. But it was well worth it! I am grinning about this ride even now!
