Well..It's been two weeks since the Half Ironman in Oceanside and I'm get back to it!
My foot/calf issue is getting better. I am icing it and going to see another doctor here in Chicago in the next week or so. The Sports Med guy in AZ was amazing and I am following his orders in the meantime. The taping is working and the pool running is proving to be a good challenge. Pool running is beating the mind freeze... and today I managed an hour and a half. That's an all time record for me! I have found that I like doing it in the endless pool as the current strength keeps me focused. My IPOD makes it more bearable as well. I have to admit, I do sing along!!
Riding.. I'm back on my bike again. I logged over 100 miles this week. Not to shabby! It feels good to be back in that schedule. I rode outside yesterday in Naperville with my friend Luddy at a Team In Training supported ride. Luddy, as I may have mentioned before, is an incredible rider! He can bike me under the table in moments. To say the least, all 53 miles yesterday were HARD! I like the feeling of having your legs feeling like they might detatch at your hips.
The swim... We had our swim test this week on Thursday morning. I set my goal very aggressively at 1:10. It was a long shot but something I'd like to see in myself in the future. I was happy to swim in the lane next to Bus. Bus is a good swimmer with a great sense of humor. I challenged myself to never loose sight of Bus' feet. I enjoy "chasing" the rabbit. Some people are fast because they internally challenge themselves, and some need to be the greyhound on the track. I am a rabbit chasing kind of gurl! This could be a downfall for me, but something I can work on in the future. My final average for the 10 * 100 was 1:18ish. AND...I put it all out there in the water. When I finished the last one, I crawled on to the deck and layed on my back gasping for air.
Next week... Rest week.. which really means a bike test and a run test with quiet days in between. Coaches are such a tease! Does testing really sound like rest to you?
