Last night we did our bike test again to show progress and strength. Our last bike test was on 2/17. Two months ago, I surprised myself with 187 watts of power. I went into this bike test hoping to show a stronger heart and legs. BUT... that is not what happened. Through this disappointment I have learned a few things.... I'd like to share them with you.
My Ipod does help me put my blinders on and I did loose it 5 minutes into the "race". It fell.
My emotions do drive my ability to perform. Some events in my personal life have made me sad lately. Sadness does not lead to good output... but anger does for me. A good friend of mine once said, don't cry during the race. It upsets your GI. I think sadness upsets my straight line. Rest in peace Liam Gabriel McLaughlin.
My legs are no excuse. I had them worked on on Monday morning and truthfully they felt good. I feel like I am turning a corner with this rehab and it excites me! I see a specialist on 5/4.
My BFF gave me the best advice this morinng... "Back pocket it Jen. You know we used to TT every Thursday and we won some and lost some, but we still got stronger. This is no different. You just have to finish those 112 miles... go get back on the bike." I do love her for that!!
