This week started the taper for Ironman. I have called it a "fake" taper all week. Our weekly totals were...swimming 4 miles, biking over 100 miles and running 14 miles. Does that seem like a taper to you? I have been reminded that as a distance swimmer, I kept my totals up until almost the end. And I was told that one of the mistakes newbie Ironman make is cutting out too much too fast. SO.. this all is coming together.. so to speak.Today.. Rhonda, Legs and I rode the hills of Barrington again. It was very reminiscent for me. We went on the roads that I used to run on this winter, and the hills we've ridden training this year. There was no pushing or hammering, just enjoying. This downhill slope towards Ironman seems to have mellowed us out. We chatted about everything and just enjoyed each others company. At the end of the short four hour ride, we had a thirty minute run. We did it on the track. I ran 11 minute miles again today which seems to be the pace I'll be doing at Ironman. This pace is pushing but something I feel like I can do forever. So... I'm off to enjoy the rest of my afternoon and tomorrow's day off! Rumor has it that next week is even lighter! I'll love it!
BTW.... DT races IMLOU tomorrow! It looks like a perfect day for him! I'll be cheering for him!
