My fav quote

At Ironman Arizona in April, I found this saying on the back of a shirt... I like it.

"A strong woman knows she has strength enough for the journey, but a woman of strength knows it is in the journey where she will become strong"

Sadly.. this Jenn didn't finish the race...

Wisconsin

I'm home from Wisconsin. I loved it!! I'm really looking forward to racing there next year. I know the weather could be anything.. they had a perfect day to race this year. The very next day..it poured rain and was cold cold cold. I am hopeful for the perfect race day....

My recovery... since the bike accident.. I have gotten much better. I bought a new bike helmet today.. and plan to ride again Tuesday. I'm feeling better every day! My left leg is loosening up again...but I do plan to go to rehab for a little while longer. The road rash has really healed. I'm hopeful my left shoulder looks completely healed by the end of the week. I talked to Dave this weekend (brother of my coach) and he said.. Congrats! You've made it through the rite of passage! What an awesome way to look at this!!

Looking forward to getting back into it......

small setback.. bike crash

I was riding on Pecos Road today with the group.. we were headed back to the Foothills to start the ride home. As we were crossing two lanes of traffic going left.. my friend Deb was in front of me. She decided she didn't want to go.. she came back where we came from and took my wheel. I don't really know what happened next.. they say I took the fall on my head and left shoulder. The stitches are in the back of my head where the helmet goes around on the left side. I ended up in the traffic lane with my bike.. all shook up. The girls helped me off the side of the road.. the EMT was called. And.. I went to the hospital. They say my bike is okay.. I don't know. I haven't seen her. My friend Ken took her. I do get a new helmet out of the deal. I'm afraid of tomorrow's pain. Today.. I can hardly walk on my left hip.

Trip to WI

As I mentioned.. I'm headed to Wisconsin on Friday... Here is the schedule of events...
Saturday.. Volunteer meeting at 8am... Swim in Monona ... Bike the course..but only one loop. (70 miles)

The plan.. every time I make it to Wisconsin in the next year.. I will bike the course. I want to know the course like the back of my hand. I'm lucky.. Ludster let's me borrow a bike. I have kindly named him "Burt". I added a picture of what he looks like..sort of. Burt is silver, not blue. They say Ironman is a headstrong race. I've heard it from so many friends..I tend to believe it.

The race is on Sunday.. we'll be there from the cannon in the morning swim.. to the bike course..and the famed turn around on MLK boulevard... to the finish. THEN comes the part I've been waiting for. An early morning rise on Monday morning to sign up for next year.

I can't wait.......................

Next weekend..sign ups

The journey begins next Monday morning...what journey you ask? The words I've been waiting to hear...."JennyLou, You are an Ironman!" I am flying to Wisconsin next weekend to register in person and guarantee my spot at the starting line next September. I plan on riding part of the bike course again next weekend with my training partner, Ludster. He and I are both going to race next year.

I posted his shirt, hat and medal from '07.. It's a small reminder.. of the prize at the end!
